Chi Beta Omega is the only organization at Florida State where you can win a state title in Managerial Accounting on a Friday afternoon and be held personally, financially, and spiritually responsible for a rented fog machine that same Saturday night. Two hundred and fourteen brothers. Forty-one medals. One unresolved security deposit.

Black tie. Live band. Four hours. One rule, and the rule is load-bearing.
Admission requirement
One (1) verified plus-one. Per attendee. No exceptions.
Door staff have been briefed, issued the guest manifest, and instructed not to negotiate. Solo entries will be walked to the parking lot, where the Parliamentarian will read them Article VII in full, out loud, at a reasonable pace.
Bringing your cousin? Run the eligibility checker first. We have seen things. Several of those things were cousins.

Collected at the spring banquet, lightly edited, legally reviewed.
I joined for the networking and stayed because they let me build a discounted cash flow model on the chapter's queso budget. It was not solvent. It has never been solvent.
Third place, Business Law, State. I argued the case so hard that a judge asked if I was doing okay. I was not doing okay. I placed.
My mother keeps a framed photo of me at Nationals on the mantle. There is no framed photo of my brother. That is what this fraternity has given me, and I will not be apologizing for it.
My son now says the word “synergy” at Thanksgiving, unprompted, to his grandmother. I have complicated feelings about this organization.

Asset Recovery: Where in the world is Harry Black?
In March 2024 our Treasurer Emeritus stepped out of a chapter meeting to “take a call.” He has not been seen since. Neither has the formal contingency fund. The Alumni Relations Committee has converted the search into a recruiting exercise, because that is the kind of upside-oriented culture we run here.
Harry Black remains at large.
