Four conferences a year
Panama City, Orlando, Washington DC, and wherever Nationals lands. Business attire for three straight days, a van with a contested aux cord, and the best weekends of the year.

Rush
Two weeks of open events at the start of each semester: info night, the résumé roast, a service project, and a cookout. Come to one, come to all four. Nothing is required, nothing is a test, and yes, there is always food.

Pledge
Ten weeks. A structured curriculum on the fraternity, business fundamentals, and chapter history, culminating in a 40-page chapter business plan your pledge class writes together and defends in front of the Executive Committee. There is no hazing here in any form. There is a lot of Excel.

Pay dues
$115 per semester, covering national, state, and local membership plus conference subsidies. Itemized below, because we are an accounting chapter and we cannot help ourselves.

A ceremony, a pin, a handshake, and your name in the book. Then you are handed a folding chair, because the next pledge class arrives in fourteen weeks and the cycle is eternal.

What $115 a semester buys
Every line published, every semester. If this number is a barrier, read the fourth FAQ below before you read anything else on this page.

Hardship fund
We keep a standing fund for brothers and prospective brothers for whom dues are a genuine obstacle. Requests go straight to the adviser, stay with the adviser, and have never once been denied. Cost is not why anyone misses out on this chapter.
FAQ
Common questions
Do I need to be a business major?
No, and roughly a third of the chapter is not. We have brothers in Engineering, Nursing, Communication, Criminology, and one in Philosophy who has won Public Speaking three years running and will not tell anyone how. Business knowledge is the thing we teach. Showing up is the thing you bring.
Do you haze?
No. Our national office, our adviser, Florida State, and the State of Florida are all extremely clear on this, and so are we — there is no hazing in this chapter in any form, and a brother who tries it is out the same night. What the pledge process actually consists of is a ten-week curriculum, a 40-page chapter business plan, and an unreasonable amount of folding-chair logistics. Some pledges claim they would prefer the other thing. They are joking. So are we, and only about the chairs.
How much time does this take?
One chapter meeting every other Wednesday, about fifty minutes. Add a practice session or two before each conference, plus whatever committee work you sign up for. Brothers who compete at Nationals are putting in real hours in February and March. Brothers who don't compete are looking at three or four hours a month.
What if dues are a problem for me?
Then email Dr. Whitfield-Brooks directly and it gets handled, confidentially, at the adviser level. No officer sees it and it is never discussed in chapter. We have a standing hardship fund for exactly this and we would much rather spend it than lose you.
Is there a GPA requirement?
2.75 to pledge, 2.5 to remain in good standing. If you fall below, you go on academic support rather than out the door: a study plan, a weekly check-in, and a brother assigned to you who has taken the class. Six brothers were on support last year. All six came off it.
Do I have to go to the Spring Formal?
No. It is optional, like everything social here. If you do come, you are bringing a date, because that is Article VII and it applies to everyone including the President, who was turned away for nine minutes in 2022.
Can I rush in the spring?
Yes. We take a pledge class each semester. Spring classes are smaller, which most brothers will tell you privately is the better experience.
